New wood projects

I hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful weather in the northeast this summer.  Anyway I spent the end of last week and the beginning of this week finishing projects that had been started.  I did complete many new items I had been making .  I finished a bear cub that I was anxious to see how it would come out, and it looks great. I am looking forward to making his companion.  I finished a couple smaller owls I had been working on, completed a rocking horse I had been working on lately, and I was able to start working on some new delicate Christmas ornaments that I will show later in the week.  I have a couple new orders that I must get working on and I will take some pictures along the way to keep you up to date on my progress so you can see how they come along as I go.  I also have some early Christmas orders that I need to start working on because it comes fast and I get quite busy and I like to get those orders done as soon as possible, best I can tell you is stop back on Friday and I will try to get some pictures of the items I have been telling you about.  I love to share with you the items I have been working on and I would like to thank all the people who e-mail me with questions and comments about my work.  If you are looking for a special handmade item to give for birthdays or Christmas you can go to http://www.backyardwooddesigns.etsy.com/ and check out some of the great items available for order or if you have something special in mind just send me a picture and any details and I will get back to you and we can discuss the many options available.  Just a reminder stop back Friday to checkout the new photo's. Thanks for stopping by.

Look who is looking at you

This is one of the most recent items I have made.  It is a Great Horned Owl and he has rested on a 4x4 post!  This Owl is cut from 2"x12" Pine, then sanded and finished with a oak stain and also 2 coats of a protective finish to protect from the elements of mothernature.
I am offering some of my handmade items for sale on my storefront site on backyardwooddesigns.etsy.com and also if you live close you can purchase directly from my shop in Stillwater, New York.  I really enjoy making these wildlife projects.  The next project is a bearcub which I will post pictures and information as I go along so you can really see how much work goes into these wood items.  E-mail me for more information if you have any questions.

Most Recent Project

This little rocking horse is meant for children up to 2 years old. This was sure alot of fun. Working on it regularly just wanting to get it finished because it was looking realy good and all I could think about is how much fun someones child would have with this little pony.  I make these out of pine lumber and can be finished in either oak, maple or clear stain.  I also make them in other woods also like oak, maple.  There are alot of great options available.
